Overview

At popular South Beach University, filthy rich super-snob Victoria English is the absolute queen of leading Greek student club, Sigma Sigma. In order to achieve her crowning ambition, winning FHM Magazine’s annual best sorority, she must recruit atypical ‘Sigmies’ to fulfill the diversity criteria. Ambitious sycophant pledge Kristen Haas helps her attract ‘losers’ (too poor, ugly, unfashionable), who are cruelly put through excruciating hazing, without intent to actually enroll them. Gloria, the brightest and most assertive pledge, wins the heart of Derek ‘baby Dick’, Victoria’s ideal, yet constantly abused boyfriend, whose bitch-addiction is cured by this alternative lover. Together they lead the revolt of the not-even-nerds.

Viewing Notes

The National Lampoon task continues. Pledge This is basically what seems to be a vehicle for Paris Hilton who was still at the height of her popularity in 2006. The unfortunate thing is that this movie puts her as the hottest girl in college who is trying to get her sorority featured in FHM. Since I don’t find Paris Hilton very attractive and the girls around her were easily 10 times better looking this made that plot, already ridiculous, dumber than hell.

So Paris decides that to keep her sorority in standing with the school they need to rush some geeks. Bring in the awkward girls, who feature a lame variety of typically unusual girls. There’s the large one and nerdy one but then they have two super hot girls, one played by Sarah Carter and one by Paula Garcés. Also in the group is the ever hilarious Kerri Kenney who I’m a fan of in Reno 911. She plays the older drunk lady out to sleep with a bunch of young guys to get back at her husband.

So the movie goes along with a series of lame bits making the awkward girls look bad, a lot of terrible Paris Hilton narrative voiceovers which have no place in the movie at all and nothing much else.

Pledge This is unfortunately a chore to watch and I may of had one or two laughs none of it was particularly good. Oh and there’s an exploding shit toilet gag. That sort of says it all.
