I’m a big fan of Eli Roth’s movie, Cabin Fever and when I heard Ti West did the sequel I wasn’t necessarily thrilled because before I had seen House of the Devil he was batting 50/50 for me (Roost was good but Trigger Man was abysmal).
In the end Ti West tried to disassociate himself with this movie and I’d love to see his version. However the final product I still found super enjoyable. In a lot of ways I thought that this movie was a big throwback to 80s style gore fests and really just went balls out, much like Joe Lynch’s Wrong Turn 2. In fact the opening scene is very much like a scene in WT2.
I loved how the movie took a gross scene and then just tried to top it over and over. There’s a junk scene in here you just cannot unsee.
In the end, I found Cabin Fever 2 to be over the top, fun and totally sick, things I can totally get behind.
