On re-watching Puppetmaster it occurred to me that it really just seems to set itself up for a sequel without concentrating too much on a central story.
I really liked the whole psychic story and even by today’s standards I find the puppets to be creepy and clever, although the leech lady still doesn’t seem that dangerous to me. I get a leech on me, I’m just going to take it off. But hey, I get it…it’s gross!
All in all Puppetmaster isn’t balls out great and it’s no wonder that it didn’t become a huge hit, but it’s clever enough and fun for a late Friday night watch with some pals, especially to watch that brawny puppet punching the hell out of people.
