Grizzly was a Terror Tuesday selection and I have to say, a terrific one. I found it to be very similar to the last William Girdler flick we watched, Day of the Animals, except this time instead of all the animals going nuts and attacking humans, this time a rampaging Grizzly (that varied between 15 feet tall and what seemed 30) was on the loose.
Grizzly ended up being a much better movie than DOTA, however, as it was much more cohesive and had more kills. Because of that it paced better and had less long periods of people walking and a bird watching them and more parts with a close shot of a bear then a swipe and then someone’s mauled ass face on the ground.
So yeah, the effects are great, but for 1976 it was pretty gruesome. We even get a kid who gets a leg torn off! That resulted in a room full of cheers from the crowd. We always love great kills.
All in all I thought Grizzly was one of the better movies we’ve seen this year.
