I love Neil Marshall’s works and The Descent is a favorite horror movie of mine. I was completely against a sequel when I first heard about it, because, let’s face it, the first one’s ending is pretty bleak and where were they going to go from there?
I’m shocked to say that I ended up liking Descent: Part 2 quite a bit. It picks up from the first one and gives us more of the same story, while expanding on the kills, the scares and the original storyline. I thought it worked so well as a sequel that I think it’d make a terrific double feature with the first. It’s not as dark and Harris doesn’t have quite the sense of tension that Marshall created in the first, but he delivers on the action.
I haven’t read too many opinions of this sequel but for me, I thought it was worthy of it.
