It’s been a while since I’ve seen this movie but I had always loved it. And, it still holds up as a totally fun vampire film.
I love how 80s horror films with teens always have them being the smart one, figuring out what’s going on, despite the protests of their parents.
Chirs Sarandon is terrific as the vampire next door neighbor who dicks with Charlie Brewster. Amanda Bearse is super cute, even though I thought she wasn’t all that later on as Marcy in Married With Children. Brewster is ironically enough the least compelling character, but when you’re playing next to Malcolm McDowell and the ever so charming Stephen “Evil” Geoffies (who went on to make some gay porn movies!), its hard to stand out.
All in all Fright Night totally holds up as a fun vampire film and one of my favorites.
