There’s something pretty grisly going on under London in the Tube tunnels between Holborn and Russell Square. When a top civil servant becomes the latest to disappear down there Scotland Yard start to take the matter seriously. Helping them are a young couple who get nearer to the horrors underground than they would wish.

The best thing about this movie is the lurid poster. Otherwise it’s a pretty boring take on something that had a lot of potential. Donald Pleasence’s inspector character is so bizarre that you can’t even laugh at it; you just kind of stare blankly at the screen and ask yourself “WTF”?
Christopher Lee makes a single appearance, in which he steals the scene of course, as some MI5 director whose involvement in the film and plot baffling.
