The historic Music Box Theatre in Chicago did a special Fathers Day screening of James Bond films, so my sons and I decided to drive in to catch two of them. I’ve never seen any of the Bond films before the Roger Moore run on the big screen, so this was a real treat for me. My sons had been wanting to go back to the Music Box ever since we saw Trollhunter there last year, so they were excited as well.
Unfortunately my wife had to work, so she wasn’t able to come with. We did meet my friend Jay there though, and he had never seen From Russia With Love, the second movie we were planning on watching, so that was cool too.
Getting to watch a 35mm print of Dr. No in a historic theatre was pretty damned cool. The print was in great shape too. The only issue I noticed was some pretty noticeable color fading on the last reel that really washed portions of the film out. Other than that, it was great!
