This was version five of the Cabal Cut, which is an unfinished re-edit of Nightbreed using footage from workprints to restore the movie back to something more similar to the book and to what Clive Barker originally intended/shot.
I’ve seen portions of Nightbreed before but never the entire movie. And to be honest I’m not a big Clive Barker fan either. Still, I could see where the Cabal Cut makes more sense in terms of the story line, so I’d be happy to see this finally get an official release on Blu-Ray or DVD.
Because of the quality of the various sources the Cabal Cut suffers serious drops in quality, but that’s perfectly ok in this instance. Still, another reason to hope it gets released on Blu with the edits made from quality source materials.
This was the first of three movies for Terror in the Aisles 11.
